The Skin I Live In - Vampiras lesbianas y otros...
A train approaching the camera, an onerous bouquet of flowers, an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne inside, the mouths of a man and a woman kissing in a violet tone. Suggestion and lust, a hotel in the middle of nowhere, a couple of newlyweds, the boredom she and him bear, a kind of bitterness only forced heterosexuality can cause. An extravagant man they call “mommy”, the sea at night, the arrival of the beautiful, distant countess Bathory, corpses of virgins that appear in the town, sex, suggestion and lust, until blood arrives, the mark in the hand, the bodies that are buried, the lesbian attraction, the walks between the countess and the young newlywed, their white, blonde, smooth skins overflowing with desire, the macho man’s fury, the argument, the glass, a rococo crystal mask, and one of the best extermination scenes in film history, trickles of blood that sprout in irresistible, liberating abundance. A body that falls from the anonymous edge of a river, one less body and a new life ahead, splashing, gasping, and sighing as it crosses the woods and the fire.
It is a triumph of this second edition of Asterisco to be able to screen this all-time masterpiece in 35mm, for the first time in Argentina.
